India’s ODI skipper Mithali Raj has become the first Indian woman cricketer to cross the 2,000-runs mark in T20I cricket. Mithali is currently the leading run-scorer in ODI cricket. In the list of most runs scored in women’s T20I cricket, Mithali is currently on the seventh position. She reached the feat after playing against Sri Lanka in Women’s Asia Cup T20 2018 in Malaysia.
Mithali’s average is the best in the top 10 leading run-scorers in T20I cricket. The list is topped by former English cricketer Charlotte Edwards with 2,605 runs from 95 games. Mithali reached the feat in her 74th T20I.
West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor is expected to go past Edwards as she is second on the list with 2,582 runs. She is followed by Suzie Bates (2,515 runs), Meg Lanning (2,105 runs), Sarah Taylor (2,091 runs) and Deandra Dottin (2,039 runs).
Mithali has been playing in a fine form in the tournament. She recorded her highest T20I score with a 97-run knock against Malaysia in the tournament opener. The 35-year-old was rested in the match against Thailand. She could not convert a decent start against Bangladesh and got out after scoring 15 runs.

The veteran also made her IPL debut in the one-off T20 challenge match between Harmapreet’s Supernovas and Smriti Mandhana-led Trailblazers, playing for the former. She scored 22 runs in the fixture.
