Mohammed Shami vomits on the ground, continues to bowl despite sickness

SL still need 379 to win with 7 wickets still in the bank. The good thing from SL's point of view is Matthews is at the crease and Chandimal is yet to bat

After Suranga Lakmal, Mohammed Shami struggles due to pollution at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, Delhi. Indian pacer Shami was spotted vomiting on the cricket field at Kotla. This happened after the home team declared their 2nd innings at 246 for 5, setting the visitors a target of 410 runs to win. For India, Dhawan was the top scorer with 67 runs under his belt. Virat and Rohit also registered half centuries, Kohli was out for 50, whereas Rohit was unbeaten on 49.

The Lankans started chase under a heavy blanket of smog in Delhi. But what we saw send shivers down our spines, Shami threw up. This incident after Lakmal also puked raises eyebrows over the safety of cricketers on the cricket field in Delhi. The smog incident has received a lot of, as such incidents are rare in cricket. Earlier on Day2, Sri Lankan players adhered to wearing masks on the cricket field (could be a first in cricket). The play was also halted for 17 minutes, which meant a loss in the concentration of the batsman.

Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin, who was unbeaten when smog intervened departed soon after play resumed. Virat fell for 243 runs and Ashwin too perished.

We also saw Indian coach Ravi Shastri getting involved in the saga as he could not stop himself from entering the field. Shastri spoke to the umpires, but an agitated Virat Kohli declared soon.

As we speak, at stumps on Day 4, the visitors are 31 for 3, Shami picked up a solitary wicket, whereas Jadeja snapped up two. SL still need 379 to win with 7 wickets still in the bank. The good thing from SL’s point of view is Angelo Matthews is at the crease and Chandimal is yet to bat. Both these players will hold the key as they were the centurions for the visitors from the 1st innings. Will they press for a win or not is yet to be seen, but India seems to already have a leg in the door.
