Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former Indian captain, recently came out in support of the Indian Test squad after they lost the series against South Africa by 2-0. Dhoni stated that though they lost the series, their efforts need to be appreciated. While speaking at an event in Chennai, he said that the players tried to deliver their best in order to win.
When Dhoni was asked about the team’s position in the current Test rubber, Dhoni pointed out the some of the positive points of India’s performance in both the Tests and said,
“You need 20 wickets to win a Test match and we have taken 20 wickets. That is the biggest positive. Irrespective of whether you are playing at home or outside, if you can’t take 20 wickets, you can never win a Test. We took 20 wickets and it means we are in a position of winning. Once you start scoring runs, you are there.”
