Virat Kohli & Co. lost the 2nd T20I against New Zealand at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on November 4. While chasing a massive target of 196 runs, India lost both their star openers – Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma – in the second over of the inning within 11 runs. The Kiwi bowlers bowled really well to put the hosts under pressure right in the beginning. Despite a fiery batting show by Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the middle overs, Indian team fell short by 40 runs and lost the match.
Both Kohli and Dhoni anchored the inning for a long while and added 56 runs for the 5th wicket. In the 17th over, Kohli lost his wicket to Mitchell Santner after scoring 65 runs off 52 balls. Post Kohli’s dismissal, Dhoni kept his hitting on.
In the last over, India needed 49 runs to win while Trent Boult was brought into the attack. To his full-length delivery, Dhoni hit a massive six towards the long on and the ball disappeared after landing in the stands.

Later, Dhoni was also dismissed by Trent Boult and he ended up scoring 49 off 37 balls including 3 gigantic sixes and 2 fours. He scored at a strike rate of 132.43 which was not enough to chase down the total or go any closer to it. After this match, the series is leveled 1-1 and the Kiwis have kept themselves alive in the series. Now, the decider is to be played on November 7 in Thiruvananthapuram.
