Murali Vijay makes comeback after 8 months in Indian Test team, scores his 10th ton - Watch Highlights

It's his 10th Test hundred in 52 matches, and fourth in ten innings. He scored 126 at Rajkot, 136 at Mumbai – both against England last November

After almost 8 months, Indian Murali Vijay is playing a Test match for India. The absence of Shikhar Dhawan in the 2nd game against Sri Lanka made the way for Vijay. He made sure that he shouldn’t miss this chance and came back with flying colours against the Islanders. Vijay came to open the Indian inning on day 1 and batted till the second day. He remained at the crease for 75 overs and kept on frustrating the Lankan bowlers.

On day 2, he resumed the Indian innings with a four and went to score big. Right after getting his 16th Test fifty, Vijay shifted the gear and started charging the Lankan bowling attack. After facing 188 balls, Vijay got his 10th Test hundred and he celebrated in style.

He didn’t just stop there but went on to score more. In the second session, finally, the Lankan bowlers got the first breakthrough of the day. Vijay ended up scoring 128 runs off 221 balls including 11 fours and 1 six.

After Vijay’s dismissal, Pujra and Kohli started punishing the opposition. Pujra scored his 14th Test century while Kohli smashed 15th Test fifty of his career.

By the end of the day, India posted 312 runs on the board after losing two wickets. Cheteshwar Pujara is playing on 121* and Virat Kohli going strong on 54*. India lead by 107 runs.
