In a shocking turn of events on the cricket field, young Pakistani batsman, Zubair Ahmed, reportedly died on the field after being hit by a bouncer. According to reports, Zubair Ahmed was reportedly playing a club cricket match on 14th August, Pakistan’s Independence Day, when he was hit on the head by a bouncer and sadly passed away.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared the news on their official Twitter handle. PCB posted a picture of Zubair Ahmed and captioned: “ Tragic death of Zubair Ahmed is another reminder that safety gear i.e. helmet must be worn at all times. Our sympathies with Zubair’s family.”

Zubair Ahmed’s tragic death reminds of the Australian batsman Phil Hughes accident. Hughes lost his life his neck was hit by a bouncer during a Sheffield Shield match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 25 November 2014.

Hughes was then immediately taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, where he underwent surgery but lost the battle and breathed his last on 27 November.

Earlier on the same day, Australian dashing batsman David Warner was too hit by a bouncer during a practice game.

During the match between Steve Smith XI and David Warner XI, Josh Hazlewood bowled a bouncer to David Warner who went for a pull shot but he failed to attempt and the ball struck on his head and Warner fell down.

David Warner walked from the field and retired hurt after he was hit on the helmet in Darwin.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, David Warner was struck on his neck and was immediately carried off the ground for the treatment.
