U-19 WC: Why Tweeps hailed Prithvi Shaw as the "next Tendulkar"

Prithvi Shaw, the India U-19 captain led from the front in India’s tournament opener against a formidable Australia. Shaw scored a brilliant 94 of 100 balls to guide India into a position of strength. The youngster’s innings comprised of 8 fours and two mighty sixes. Manoj Kalra and Shaw put on a partnership off 180 runs as well. India has set Australia a target of 329 to win. Earlier, India U-19 won the toss and elected to bat first. Manjot Kalra, Shubham Gill also chipped in with handsome 86 and 63 respectively. Edwards was the pick of the Australian bowlers scalping 4 wickets, but he too was on the expensive side. He conceded 64 runs in 9 overs.

It is unfortunate that the Thane-born missed out on a World Cup century, but he is already being hailed as the Tendulkar in the making. Well, the two do have similarities apart from hailing from the same state. Both the cricketers are early entrants to the game and are both short in height. It seems the U-19 team marshalled by coach Rahul Dravid has the potential of going deep in the tournament, going by early trends.
