In the Ranji Trophy semi-finals against Tamil Nadu, he got a chance to represent Mumbai and smashed a century in the second innings for which he was awarded the Man of the Match. Later, in the Duleep trophy tournament, he represented Indian Red and became the second youngest cricketer to score a century in the tournament after master blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
