It’s often being said that T20 cricket is a batsman’s game. With shortened boundaries and the field restrictions, batsmen always go blazing against the bowlers. Barbados Tridents’ bowler Raymon Reifer is the latest entrant to the list of bowlers who have gone for plenty in an innings. Reifer gave 67 runs in his four-over spell against St Lucia Stars and bowled the most expensive spell of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) history taking over Kemar Roach (64 runs).
The left-arm pacer got hit for 7 sixes in the match. The most expensive over he bowled was the 17th over of the innings. He gave 27 runs in the over including three consecutive sixes by Andre Fletcher.
The 27-year-old gave runs at an economy rate of 16.75. However, he tried to redeem himself in the last over of the first innings. He had already given 57 runs in 3 overs but skipper Jason Holder trusted him to bowl the last over.
He gave 10 runs in the last over but picked up the wickets of skipper Kieron Pollard and Darren Sammy. However, he is one of the two bowlers who has given 65 runs or more in a T20 game and scalped two wickets.
St Lucia Stars put on a daunting total of 226 runs for 6 wickets on the scoreboard. Pollard slammed his maiden T20 ton after playing 427 games in the format. The 31-year-old scored 104 runs off 54 deliveries including 6 fours and 8 sixes. Andre Fletcher too was destructive as he scored 80 runs off 52 deliveries including 6 fours and 6 sixes.
