India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, known for his aggressive attitude on field bagged an embarrassing record in his third innings of Test cricket. Pant went on a blocking spree coming out to bat ahead of Hardik Pandya and Ravichandran Ashwin. He was overly cautious against fast bowlers James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Sam Curran.

When Moeen Ali came to bowl, Pant was quite adamant about carrying on the defensive play. On the third ball he faced from Ali, he was trapped in front of the wicket. By the time he got out, he had played 29 dot balls.

The left-handed batsman joined Irfan Pathan and Suresh Raina in the list of Indian players taking most deliveries to get out for a duck in Test cricket.

Pant has a strike rate of 93.69 in First-Class cricket. He scored his first runs in Test cricket by hitting a six off the second ball he faced in debut Test. It is quite tough to comprehend how an attacking batsman like him stayed at the crease for as long as 47 minutes without scoring a run.

He became Ali’s first wicket on his Test return. The wicket led to more pressure on the lower order. The off-spinner ended up registering a five-wicket haul as he rushed through the lower batting order.
