Rohit Sharma has created a new and unique record while batting against New Zealand in the first T20I at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi on November 1. The star Indian opener along with Shikhar Dhawan, not only edged past Virender Sehwag-Gautam Gambhir’s highest opening stand for India in T20Is but have also surpassed Suresh Raina in terms of the number of sixes. The Indian vice-captain hit 4 humongous sixes during his extraordinary 80-run inning against New Zeland and became the leading six-hitter among Indians in Twenty20 cricket with 268 sixes.
Rohit has beaten Suresh Raina who has hit 265 sixes in the quickest format of the game. Both the Indian batsmen have batted in a total of 245 T20 matches, however, Rohit is now leading the list. After Rohit and Raina, the table includes the names of big hitters like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan. However, Raina still remains the highest run-scorer in T20s.
