With the Indian Premier League around the corner, the rumour mills were abuzz that the two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders would be playing unauthorised matches with Pakistan Super League current winners Peshawar Zalmi in Dubai and London. But all the rumours were quashed when Kolkata Knight Riders put a lid to this controversy via their official Facebook page saying that it is a false report.
During the IPL auction this year, KKR got some good young talent in their ranks in the likes of Ishank Jaggi, Trent Boult and Chris Woakes. However, they would be immensely missing the all round services of Andre Russell.
KKR won’t be playing any unauthorized games/leagues as some false reports are claiming.
No such communication happened from our end.— KolkataKnightRiders (@KKRiders) March 9, 2017
There is minimal evidence that any such statement was actually made officially. But a leading news website was carrying a story that the match would be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Peshwa Zalmi.
Cricket statistician Mohandas Menon also got it wrong when he mentioned about the prospect of a match between the two teams. However, he later retweeted the clarification update from Kolkata Knight Riders. Spare a thought, even the best can misfire.

This year, one believes KKR have got the balance right and are poised to winning this edition of IPL.
