‘Runs are runs’: Inzamam-ul-Haq slams James Anderson for snide comments on Virat Kohli

Inzamam said Anderson can't question Kohli as he has not taken many wickets in India

England pacer James Anderson is being severely criticised for his snide comments on Indian Test captain Virat Kohli. After many greats of the game, former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has also lambasted the pacer. James Anderson recently said that Kohli had not eliminated the technical follies in his game and that he was being aided by the lack of pace and bounce in Indian pitches.

Inzamam said Anderson can’t question Kohli as he has not taken many wickets in India.

“It is surprising to me that Anderson should question Kohli’s runs and ability because I haven’t seen him taking too many wickets in India,” Inzamam told Geo News.

“Does Anderson mean that if you get runs in England you get some sort of certificate that makes you a quality batsman. Don’t the English and Australian players struggle when they play in the sub-continent? Does that mean they are bad players or weak teams. To me it does not matter where you get runs because in Test matches runs are runs,” he added.

On Sunday, South African legend Graeme Smith had slammed the pacer on Twitter, saying whether his comments mean that he could only bowl in English conditions.

India defeated England in the fourth Test by an innings and 36 runs. They also won the series 3-0. Former England captain Michael Vaughan critcised the English team for a shoddy display with the bat all through the series. He said despite playing so many Tests in the Indian sub-continent, the team was not improving.
