India lost the match today against England by 9 runs. They were in a position of strength till they crumbled. This is the fourth time England has won the world cup. It could be Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami’s last participation in world tournament but they will leave with their heads held high. England who batted first managed to secure 228 runs, which also proved to be too much for India. India had defeated them earlier in the tournament, but scoreboard pressure got to them and they crumbled. But not before putting up a fight and taking the game right down to the wire. Smriti departed without scoring. It has been a bad tournament for her after she started well.
It was Shrubsole who picked 6 wickets and buried all Indian hoped. Raut was the highest scorer for India, but once she departed it was almost over for India.
