Shahid Afridi led the Diamonds to a series win against Virender Sehwag’s Palace Diamonds in inaugural Ice Cricket tournament in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Afridi’s team won both the matches comfortably but it was his gesture off the field which won millions of hearts. In a video that spread like wildfire on the internet, Afridi can be seen telling an Indian fan to hold the country’s flag straight while posing for the picture.
The Indian fans and cricketer RP Singh lauded Afridi’s gesture. Lala has always batted for good relations between the countries despite the political tension. With this gesture, proved his love for the country yet again.

In an interview with Dawn, Afridi reacts to the video which double-folded his fans in India overnight.
We should respect the flags of other nations and that’s why I asked them to hold their flag in a proper way. I also wanted them to have a better picture.

He also had his say on India vs Pakistan cricket and what one needs to do as a sportsperson.
The cricketers of both the nations want to play for the betterment of relations between the countries. We are ambassadors of peace and want to spread love and peace around the world. We all are good friends and had a great time playing Cricket on Ice.

Afridi will be playing for Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 starting February 22.
