Pakistan’s all-rounder Shahid Afridi wants Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take a firm action which will serve as an example for players who intend to indulge in corruption, spot-fixing. Recently, Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were sent back from Dubai where they were playing in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 over corruption charges. They have been banned from PSL for a year’s period.
Afridi told the Geo Super Channel, “What can I say I have been saying in the past also that until the PCB sets or makes an example of such players it will be difficult to stop this menace. To me it is the same situation because you are allowing tainted players back into cricket,” What is the use if after five years the same players are coming back. PCB has been lenient over their measures against players committing corruption. He wants them to take firm action against players breaching the code. He wants them to be banned from international as well as the domestic circuit.
Last year, left-arm fast bowler Mohammed Amir’s return to the side was criticised. He made a comeback against England after six years. Several players criticised PCB’s decision to allow Amir in the side.
Recently, Afridi voiced his opinion on Kashmir issue as well but got trolled instead. He urged both the government to maintain peace in the state. He termed Kashmir as ‘Heaven on earth”.
