Kolkata Knight Riders new U-19 recruit Shubman Gill smashed a century against Pakistan in the ongoing U-19 Cricket World Cup semi-finals against Pakistan. That surely was a testament to why the Knight Riders have invested Rs 1.8 Cr for the young Turk. 18-year-old Gill brought up his century off the penultimate ball of the Indian innings and remained unbeaten on 102* off 94 balls. His innings comprised of 7 boundaries. It seems the young Punjabi is ticking the right boxes at a very early age. Suresh Raina and others from the cricket fraternity were quick to congratulate the youngster for his brilliant ton as they took to Twitter to express it.

Shubman Gill looks like a very classy batsman. A touch of Inzamam-ul-Haq about him – so much time to play his shots #U19CWC #FutureStars

Shubman Gill’s 102 not out is the first ever century in India-Pakistan contests in the U19 World Cups. Previous highest: 85* by Salman Butt at Lincoln in 2002. #U19CWC

Shubman Gill hits a fantastic century. Quite a responsible knock this. At this age he has tremendous game awareness–rotates the strike well & hits big shots at will.
This is India’s 1st _ in the tournament and Gill’s 4th in Youth ODIs
