David Warner has finally broken his silence over the ball-tampering drama which tainted the third test at the Newlands, Cape Town. The former Australian vice-captain has said sorry to Australian cricket fans for committing a ‘mistake’ which has ‘damaged cricket’. The Cricket Australia (CA) has slapped a ban of 12 months on Steve Smith and David Warner, and a 9-month ban on Cameron Bancroft, after they admitted to their involvement in damaging the bowl during the third Test. CA took this decision after Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull intervened, and the cricketers were asked to return with immediate effect.
After being banned, Warner took to his social media account and finally sent a message to Aussie cricket followers. He apologised for his part in the entire episode.

For the last and the final Test in Johannesburg, the replacements of the trio have been announced. Head coach Darren Lehmann has been given a clean chit from CA’s CEO James Sutherland, and is out of the radar. On the other hand, the sacking of Steven Smith has made wicketkeeper Tim Paine the 46th test skipper of Australia.
After getting banned by Cricket Australia, BCCI gave another blow to the former Australian skipper and his deputy. The Indian cricket board barred them from playing the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They both have already stepped down from the post of the captaincy of their respective teams.
This entire episode has allowed people on social media to troll these Australian cricketers. However, there are certain tweeps who are still in support of David Warner and are cheering him for staying strong.
Here’re some of the reactions:
