Rohit Sharma led team India got off to a nightmarish start in the 1st ODI against Sri Lanka at Dharamsala. India was reduced to 28 for 6 in 16 overs at a certain stage. India also owned a lot of unwanted records in the process. None of the top five batsmen got into double figures, which has to be a shame for a team that is placed currently at the numero uno spot in ICC ratings.

Debutante Shreyas Iyer top scored among the top five batsmen, he scored 9 runs. Dinesh Karthik scored a duck of 18 balls, becoming the Indian to get dismissed after playing most number of balls. He went past Eknath Solkar in this record.

THE ENGLAND RECORD INDIA PIPPED:

India’s score in first five overs. Since 2001, only once have fewer runs were scored in the first five overs by any team. England was 1 for 1 against Australia at The Oval in 2001. India score 2 for 2, they beat England because they lost the number of wickets compared to England.
