The Indian players and staff wore special army caps as a tribute to martyrs of the Pulwama terrorist attack in the 3rd ODI against Australia at Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium in Ranchi. The Indian team also donated their match fee of the third ODI to the National Defence Fund to help the families of martyred soldiers.
Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Singh Dhoni presented the camouflage caps to the Indian team, head coach Ravi Shastri and support staff before the toss.

After winning the coin toss, Kohli told Murali Karthik:
“We’re all donating our match fees of this game to the families of the martyrs. I urge everyone in the country to do the same and stick to the families of our armed forces,”
Apparently, it was MS Dhoni’s idea to wear army caps. Dhoni has shown that he has the utmost respect for Indian armed forces. In an interview, he said that he would also like to serve the army post-retirement.
Later on, the commentators donned the special caps as well. Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar distributed them to commentators.
