Rajasthan Royals (RR) surprised everyone by picking Stuart Binny in the playing XI against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) yesterday. Maybe they were banking on his decade-long experience in Indian Premier League (IPL). But many felt seeing Binny in the side ahead of someone like Manan Vohra or a youngster Riyan Prayag did not make sense.

Especially, when skipper Ajinkya Rahane gave him just one over to bowl and sent him down the order. If RR wanted a batsman, they could have opted for Vohra who has a better IPL record. Vohra has scored 1,012 runs in 1,012 runs at an average of 23.53 and an impressive striker ate of 131.77.
Or they could have gone for Prayag who can pitch in a few overs with his leg spin and cap bat in the lower middle order as well.
But statistics, analysis like these did not matter to Twitterverse as they found fresh meme content:

Binny is one player who has been bestowed with a number of chances because India were in dire need of a fast bowling all-rounder to strike the balance in the team. Unfortunately, the all-rounder is only known for his one spell against Bangladesh where he swung the ball both ways. And somehow he has the best bowling figures for India in ODIs, 6 wickets for 4 runs in 4.4 overs including two maidens.
Binny soon faded away after poor performances and it will be a miracle if he makes it back into the Indian side with all-rounders like Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya waiting for their turn. It was a surprise when he was retained by RR ahead of IPL 12. They could have easily roped in a youngster for Rs 50 lakhs.
P.S. Binny gave just 6 runs in 1 over he bowled.
