India’s fiery batswoman Veda Krishnamurthy is creating waves in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2017-18. In a match between Hobart Hurricanes and Brisbane Heat, Krishnamurthy took a stunner in the outfield to stun the home crowd at Bellerive Oval, Hobart. She helped Hobart Hurricanes get an early and crucial breakthrough against the in-form Australian opener Beth Mooney.
In the second over of Brisbane’s innings, Nicola Hancock bowled one on Mooney’s pads. Mooney came down the wicket and flicked the ball towards deep midwicket. The ball went up in the air and Krishnamurthy had a lot of ground to cover to catch the ball. She dived and got both hands on the ball, completing the catch in the end.
The catch stunned the crowd and the commentators. The commentator commended the catch by shouting, “What a catch! that is a beauty… absolute beauty. That was one of the best catches of the tournament”.

Despite the loss, it was a decent effort from Krishnamurthy overall as she recorded her highest score in WBBL 2017-18. So far, she has not been able to score well in the tournament. She has scored 94 runs from 7 innings so far and picked up one wicket. She is also the third player from India to feature in the league after Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana.
