Indian skipper Virat Kohli finally spoke up on the controversy surrounding the resignation of head coach Anil Kumble. “Anil Bhai has taken the decision to step out and we respect the decision,” he said.
Addressing the press conference at Port of Spain ahead of the first One-Day International against the West Indies that will be played on June 23, Kohli said,”I will never reveal dressing room details and maintain the sanctity of the dressing room. We have created a culture over the last 3-4 years that whatever happens in the change room, we’ve tried to keep it private and highly confidential throughout,” the 28-year-old captain said.

Kumble resigned as Team India head coach after being informed by the Board of Control for India (BCCI) that Virat Kohli had expressed reservations about his style of functioning. The veteran leg-spinner’s last assignment was the ICC Champions Trophy in which the defending champion received an 180-run drubbing at the hands of arch-rivals Pakistan. “Though the BCCI attempted to resolve the misunderstandings between the captain and me, it was apparent that the partnership was untenable, and I, therefore, believe it is best for me to move on,” the 132-Test veteran wrote in a Facebook post while announcing his decision to step down.
