Virat Kohli cannot break these records set by Sachin Tendulkar in his remaining career

This has to be that one record which is next to impossible to break. Sachin Tendulkar played 200 Test in a span of 24 years

Let me start off with this disclaimer, it is unfair to make comparisons between someone who is currently just making a name for himself with a person who is considered to be the epitome of batsmanship. But, we at the end of the day are people who love numbers and that is one reason for writing this article. Another reason for this comparison is that Indian skipper Virat Kohli is taking his game to unheard-of heights. Being a part of the world’s big four, he is among names like Steve Smith, Joe Root and Kane Williamson, which in itself is an elite league to be a part of.

The Delhi brash has of late emerged as the captain of India across all formats. He took the mantle from Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is still very much a part of the Indian limited overs set-up. Sachin Tendulkar, on the other hand, has left no stone unturned. He has achieved almost all that was there up for grabs, apart from being the first person planet to get to the magical 200 runs in One Day Internationals.

So here are the two records we feel Virat Kohli will not break of the maestro Sachin Tendulkar.

Record Number 1: Sachin Tendulkar has amassed 18,426 One Day International runs. Well, this is just the ODI’s, where Virat Kohli already has 8257 runs in 189 ODI’s. Virat Kohli is going great guns, but there are a lot of factors involved why we think he cannot get there. One, Sachin Tendulkar played 24 years of cricket at the highest level, for which one needs to be fit and injury free. With the amount of cricket Virat Kohli plays it is next to impossible to continue playing with such great fitness and form for 24 years, henceforth.

Record Number 2: Sachin has amassed 15921 runs in Test cricket which is a phenomenal feat, considering not many Tests were played back in the 90’s. Virat Kohli already has 4497 runs which is not even one-third of what he needs to get by the end of his career. A feat not evenly matched. Well, again the age factor comes into play here as Sachin had a 24 year long career, which is unheard of in modern times. And Virat doesn’t seem to be near that line.

Record Number 3: This has to be that one record which is next to impossible to break. Sachin Tendulkar played 200 Test in a span of 24 years, which is massive. Will Kohli’s body permits him to continue playing for India in top form for such a long period of time ? Well, Kohli is one of the fittest athletes of contemporary cricket and has already played 57 Tests.

Some other records Kohli may not get are:

Rohit Sharma’s 264: Virat Kohli bats at number 3.

Brian Lara’s 400: This is a record that has stood the test of time and could very well continue that way.
