Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli has assured his fans that he is likely to be the part of the team for another 10 years if he is able to maintain his fitness level. After whitewashing the Sr Lankans at their home by 9-0 (3 Tests, 5 ODIs, 1 T20I), the Indian skipper attended the launch of a scholarship programme for individuals along with Indian badminton legend and coach Pullela Gopichand and owner of Rising Pune Supergiant Sanjiv Goenka.
Virat Kohli has emerged as a phenomenal cricketer and a captain in recent times. In the recently concluded Sri Lanka tour, he smashed 2 consecutive centuries and has become the 2 highest centurion in ODIs (with 30 centuries) after Sachin Tendulkar.
In the event, while speaking about his fitness levels and effort, he said,”Many of us don’t know how far we can push ourselves. May be at times, without knowing, we are only able to realise 70 percent of our potential. Therefore it is necessary to push yourself until you are done. For example, if I train as hard as I train now, I will possibly play for another 10 years and rest of the life, I.m not going to play sports.”

“So, you have to make the most of every day you have and that’s the mindset I carry on the daily basis. Small things matter to me. What I eat, what I drink. It’s a very individual thing so if I could urge people to do that more, I will be very happy,” he added.
He also stated how the current generation is playing more on gadgets and less on the field.
Meanwhile, he also praised the contributions of P Gopichand to the Indian badminton. He said,”I remember how I along with my friends watched Gopi Sir’s All England victory. I had a friend who was a state level badminton player and we all watched the match together. We are all proud of Gopi sir for what he has achieved. He has been producing world class badminton players.”
28-year-old Virat Kohli has till now scored 4658 runs in 60 Tests and 8587 runs in 194 ODIs. His foundation, known as Virat Kohli Foundation, has joined hands with the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group to award scholarships to players across the country and promote sports at the grassroots level.
