Virat Kohli’s shoulder injury seems to have hindered his chances to play at Dharamshala Test. Recently, a news broke out that he will not be featuring in the decider of Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Shreyas Iyer too has been called up as an additional batsmen before the fourth Test starting March 25.
Kohli cleared the air over his injury and chances of playing at Dharamshala, “I am no different from anyone else. same process applies for me as it does for all the other members of the team, no special treatment for anyone. Obviously, if I am 100 per cent fit for the game is the only condition I will take the field. Rules apply for everyone and they are same for everyone. The physio can explain that better, I don’t know the magnitude of the risk. All I know is the fitness test, if I go through it then I’ll take the field.”
He also talked about the pressure of captaincy and the necessity to play in the decider game, he said, “It’s very different from the competition. I experienced it in Ranchi that when you have reactive moments is when the main magnitude of your injury comes out and those are the things we need to keep in mind. The physio needs to give it a bit more time before I can test myself and probably will take a call on it later tonight or tomorrow before the game.”
Kohli’s absence will mean that vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane will fill in shoes against the Aussies. He captained the side when Kohli was off the field due to injury at Ranchi on Day 1 and 2.
