India finally squared the series at Bengaluru, in what was a cracker of a Test match. India won the match by 75 runs. After the match, Virat Kohli had expressed his disgust at visiting captain Steven Smith, who was looking at the Australian dressing room, when opting for DRS. Even Steven Smith apologised after the match for doing it. It is actually breaching the laws of the game and captain Kohli claims to have seen his counterpart doing it twice.
Peter Handscomb, too came out and took the blame on his own shoulders, just showing how they are willing to take one for the team. Today, Cricket Australia supremo James Sutherland has come out with a statement on the matter.
Surprisingly, he has lashed out at Virat Kohli instead, touting his claim as ‘outrageous’. Isn’t the statement by CA boss even more ‘outrageous’? Seems like it is.
One may even come to question the timing of the remark—when Australia have lost the match. It seems that the CA boss was gutted with the team’s performance. Fuming at Kohli won’t help, good cricket will. DRS has grabbed eyeballs like nothing till now in the series.
Both the teams will now have a week’s break before they lock horns for the third time, in what promises to be a humdinger at Ranchi. It will also be the first time a Test will be played at Ranchi.
