Virender Sehwag is one Indian cricketer who has never held himself back before saying anything. Sehwag acknowledged that he was fond of singing and that he used to hum songs while facing the fast bowlers as it used to take the pressure off him. There is a video of the ‘Multan ka Sultan’ singing Bollywood song ‘Tu Jaana Na’ during Cricket All Stars match between Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne’s teams. Recently Sehwag revealed which song he was humming during ICC’s inaugural World Cup 2007 held in South Africa.
Sehwag revealed this in the commentary box when asked by his old teammates VVS Laxman and Zaheer Khan. While discussing the T20 triumph on it’s 10th anniversary, Laxman and Zaheer asked Sehwag which song was on his mind when during the 2007 World Cup, his reply was unexpected.
The song on Sehwag’s mind during WC 2007
Sehwag shared that he was not singing any Bollywood song this time around instead, he was singing bhajans because the pitches in South Africa were lethal and generated a lot of pace for fast bowlers. Hence, making it tough for the batsman to survive on the pitch.
Here is the video of him humming the song-
Zaheer-Laxman’s reaction
Zaheer and Laxman were laughing out loud in the commentary box during the India vs Australia 3rd ODI after listening to Sehwag’s revelation. Sehwag has revealed in the past that he hummed Kishore Kumar’s song while facing Ajit Agarkar during All Stars match and other songs throughout his career to calm his nerves.
Sehwag is currently at his hilarious best while commentating in India vs Australia limited overs series. He recently compared Australian bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile to Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh. His commentary has been all over the internet as his fans tweet funny one-liners from the former Indian opener.
Hope we see a few more revelations from him as there are still 5 more games to go in the India vs Australia limited overs series.
