Virender Sehwag to Sakshi Malik, iconic sportsmen who wished nation on 71st Independence Day on Twitter!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the country from the Red Fort after unfurling the national flag

As India celebrates its 71st Independence Day in full fervour, our sports persons who bring glory to the nation were not behind in coming forward and expressing their view of Independence or simply wishing the nation on social media platforms. India got its independence way back in 1947 from the British rulers on this very day, 15th of August. Since then India has grown in all spheres, including sports. To be honest, we have had 7 glorious decades of sports. From lifting the cricket World Cup twice to being the dominant force in the world of hockey to producing the wrestlers and shuttlers off late, who are making a mark on the global stage. Be it Sakshi Malik in wrestling or PV Sindhu in badminton.

India has also taken giant strides in the world of pro boxing, with Vijender Singh making a name for himself. Now that India as a nation has breached the 70th year, it is only likely that the future of Indian sports improves. We hope to get more Olympic medals in the future. Here is a list of the message the sportsmen have for the citizens on Independence Day. Here are the pick of the tweets. Even Virender Sehwag has tweeted:
