Wahab Riaz messes up his run-up 5 times in a row, leaves Mickey Arthur, Sarfraz Ahmed fuming in anger — Watch

Wahab Riaz faced trolls and won his fans back with contrasting bowling against Sri Lanka in first and second innings of the second Test

We have witnessed Pakistani players do bizarre things on the field but Wahab Riaz pushed the bar even lower, messing his run-up 5 times in a row. Riaz took an eternity to finish his 19th over in the second innings of Pakistan vs Sri Lanka second Test. Riaz just couldn’t get his run-up right as he went back and forth, leaving the batsman Dimuth Karunaratne amused and frustrated at the same time. Riaz was not in his best form in the first innings. The left-arm fast bowler did not get a single wicket and with Sri Lanka dominating, he faltered big time.

Wahab came close to finishing his runup on the fourth attempt but pulled out of it last minute. Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed was stunned by the series of events. He had a talk with Riaz too as the bowler was not happy with not being able to find his rhythm.

On the other hand, Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur was disappointed sitting in the pavilion. Sarfraz tried to remain calm on the field but Arthur did not mince his words. His emotions were well captured on camera as at one point he said, “What’s he doing out there?”. Arthur sat there till the fourth ball but after Riaz missed his run-up for the fifth time he used a curse word and walked back into the dressing room.

Here’s the video of Riaz missing his run-up five times in a row-

Though Riaz came back strong in the second innings by taking three wickets, the 32-year-old took just one wicket in the first innings. Here’s the reaction of Arthur after Riaz took the wicket of Karunaratne on the first ball-

But Twitterati did not refrain from trolling the fast bowler-

Riaz bowled brilliantly in the second innings by taking 3 wickets in just 3.3 overs. Sri Lanka were reduced to 34-5 at Day 3.
