He can do the ‘talwarbazi’ with the bat, he can twirl his moustache and can be a magnet on the field. This Saurashtrian, Ravindra Jadeja does all of that. Of late, he is in great bowling rhythm and is picking a handful of wickets. He is someone, who is growing with every outing he gets. He also has the backing of his captain, Virat Kohli.
The incident we are having our eye on is what happened during the 10th over. Australia got off to a rollicking start, without losing a wicket. Jadeja was finally introduced after Ashwin. Australia had just reached 50/0. Jadeja bowled one, which probably slipped out of his hand. Warner’s eyes lit up like there is no tomorrow. Many shots may have passed his mind, but then all he could manage to do was to belt it straight back to Jadeja, who showed good reflexes to pull it out of thin air. It was travelling at the rate of naughts.
As they say, well pouched! But before David Warner was dismissed he had already breached a landmark. He piled up 1000 runs against India before being dismissed. It has to be said he has not been in the best of touch for Australia, which is great news for India. At lunch, India held the advantage as they have got rid of the Australian openers and Shaun Marsh.
While David Warner was notably shocked to react, his partner at the other end, Matt Renshaw, was perplexed at the sequence of events and understandably so.
