Indian ODI captain MS Dhoni had completed an almost impossible run-out against New Zealand recently. The video had gone viral. After him, India’s wicket-keeper in Test matches, Wriddhiman Saha copied him and effected an equally impossible run-out. Now, a woman cricketer has pulled off an MS Dhoni. She did it even better than MS Dhoni. The run-out occurred in the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League in Australia. Alyssa Healy was not even looking at the stumps when she got the batswoman out. She is a relative of former Australian wicket-keeper Ian Healy.
Saha, who had been under criticism for dropping catches in the first Test against England, was superb behind the stumps in the second Test match as he pulled off a blinder. Saha was praised for his presence of mind and skills. Watch the video.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is considered the best wicket-keeper in the world presently. The magic of Dhoni was on display when he got New Zealand’s Ross Taylor out without even looking at the stumps. But that was not a flash in the pan. He has been brilliant behind the stumps all his career. Here are top 6 run-outs by MS Dhoni.
These days, a challenge called #DoItLikeDhoni is trending. To complete the challenge, a person has to throw the ball at the stumps without looking at the stumps, pretty much like Dhoni had done.
Recently, commentators Michael Atherton, Sunil Gavaskar, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, Deep Dasgupta, and Sanjay Manjrekar took the challenge. The keeper Deep Dasgupta dislodged the bails, but not without looking at the stumps.
