Mutual admiration is common in sports. Remember Virat Kohli and Kumar Sangakkara in the Sri Lankans last match.
Usually when you reach a milestone you like to keep something as a memorabilia. It is things like these that you remember when you feel down and out.
In the recently concluded Test match between India and Bangladesh, umpteen records tumbled, some were even world records, the biggest of them all.
One of the world records that happened was when Ravichandran Ashwin became the fastest in the world to 250 wickets in just a mere 45 Tests. What a feat!
Ashwin, who is enjoying a purple patch, is becoming more and more dangerous in home conditions, where the ball spins and the pitches are slow and low.
After the match, Ashwin went up to Mushfiqur Rahim and politely asked him to sign the ball with which he reached the world record.
Rahim, who is by a distance the most experienced of the Bangladeshi lot and Ashwin’s 250th scalp, is also the captain and hence Ashwin chose him over may be a Shakib or a Tamim.
Ashwin, enroute to this record went past legends like Denis Lillee, who achieved the same feat in 48 Test matches. He has apparently got to this feat of 250 wickets, the surprising bit is no Indian bowler has even got to 200 wickets after 45 matches. This shows the dominance and superiority of the tweaker from Chennai.
