Pakistan skipper, Sarfraz Ahmed, has just released apology statement for making racist against South African cricketer, Andile Phehlukwayo, and we are are NOT buying it.
Just in case you don’t know what Sarfraz said. Here are our his comments on Andile Phehlukwayo in Urdu, “Abey kaale, teri ammi aaj kahaan baitheen hain? Kya parwa ke aaye hai aaj?”. This translates to “Hey black guy, where’s your mother sitting today? What [prayer] have you got her to say for you today?”.
Here’s Sarfraz’s sorry attempt at an apology,
1/2 – I wish to extend my sincere apologies to any person who may have taken offence from my expression of frustration which was unfortunately caught by the stump mic during yesterday’s game against SA. My words were not directed towards anyone in particular and…

He even got the numbering wrong
2/3 – I certainly had no intention of upsetting anyone. I did not even mean for my words to be heard, understood or communicated to the opposing team or the cricket fans. I have in the past and will continue in future to appreciate the camaraderie of my fellow cricketers from…

3/3 – …across the globe and will always respect and honour them on and off the field.

It was quite obvious that Sarfraz did not expect this kind of a backlash. Even in the post-match press conference, he referred to Phehlukwayo as the ‘one with a difficult name’
In the first tweet, Sarfraz refers to his casual racism as words ‘which was unfortunately caught by the stump mic’. In the same tweet he writes, ‘My words were not directed towards anyone in particular’ which isn’t true. His words were directed towards Phehlukwayo who survived a review and a dropped catch.
