Tensions have been between India and Pakistan and all possibilities of cricketing ties between the two countries have taken a hit. The Indian cricketing fraternity was divided over whether India should play Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup or not.
In the midst of this, veteran Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik expressing delight at sharing a record with Indian skipper Virat Kohli is making headlines.
In the second T20I between India and Australia on February 27, Kohli played a flamboyant innings scoring 72 runs off 38 deliveries including 2 fours and 6 sixes. The 30-year-old remained unbeaten and was just one run away from surpassing Malik’s tally of runs in T20I cricket.
Currently, Kohli-Malik share the third spot in the list of most runs in T20Is. Both the batsmen have 2,263 runs in the format. Here’s what he tweeted:
Delighted to share the #3 spot of T20I runs with my neighbour @imVkohli

They may have tied at the third position, but there is difference in the statistics between the two players in reaching this recod. Kohli has played 67 matches whereas Malik took 111 matches. The Indian top order batsmen has an unreal batting average of 50.28 in comparison of the latter’s average of 30.58.
The list is headed by Indian opener Rohit Sharma with 2,331 T20I runs followed by Kiwi opener Martin Guptill with 2,272 runs.
