Virat Kohli and his men were humiliated by a formidable Aussie unit at Pune. Steven Smith-led Australia smashed many records on their way to the feat. Baby-faced Steven Smith has always given us glimpses as to why he is one of the best students of the game, his understanding and his knowledge of it. Going into the first Test at Pune, the odds were stacked against him as Virat Kohli was enjoying a 19-Test unbeaten streak. So Steven Smith must have been under immense pressure leading his side on the field. But what could be noticed vividly was their plans to every specific batsman, showing us they had done their homework, alright.
He is not a captain who is very talkative like Virat Kohli. It seems he is very economical with his words as well. Within 24 hours of defeating India in their own backyard, he took to Twitter to congratulate his colleagues. But what caught our eye was his awareness of things. In his tweet, he mentions, it is after ‘4502’ days, that the Australians finally managed to win in India. What a feat! Was this stat provided to him or did he have this at the back of his mind? If he did, hats-off to the effort.
So proud of the boys today. First Test win in India in 4502 days (2004) what an amazing feeling!

The tweet gives you a sense of relief from Steven Smith’s point of view, considering nobody gave them even a chance to compete against India in their backyard.
