World XI squad to tour Pakistan has finally been announced. This will be the first time cricket will be played on the Pakistani soil since the terror attack on Sri Lankan team bus which was enroute to the iconic Gadaffi stadium. This was a big setback for Pakistani fans, who are as equally crazy about cricket as Indians, as they missed out on watching the sport-stars play in front of them. But now they have every reason to jump with joy. The World XI has been announced and there are some big names in the squad. There were a lot of speculations about Paul Collingwood, the English former all-rounder, being the captain of the team. But to everyone’s surprise South African top order batsman Faf Du Plessis would be leading the side who will only play a total of 3 T20 matches.
This is what Faf Du Plessis, the newly appointed captain of the World XI squad, said, “I am looking forward to my maiden tour to Pakistan and play my part in the resumption of cricket in Pakistan,” du Plessis said. “I am honoured to have been appointed as the captain of such a diverse team”.
Big stars like Darren Sammy and Gashim Amla would also be a part of the touring squad. Tamim Iqbal is the only Asian to be included in the squad. Samuel Badree and Imran Tahir will be in charge of the spin department.
