After creating these records in the ODI rubber, India is all set to play a 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka starting from December 20 in Cuttack
Rohit Sharma had an excellent time while captaining the Indian cricket team in the 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Despite losing the opening game in Dharamsala by 7 wickets, the Men in Blue came back strong in Mohali, with the skipper hitting a magnificent double ton. Later, they went on to clinch yet another series by 2-1 after slamming the Lankans in Vishakhapatnam by 8 wickets.
The Indians ended their last ODI series of this year on a happy note as it was their 8th series win on the trot. Moreover, it was the first-ever series victory under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. Let’s have a look at all those milestones achieved by the Indian cricketers at the year-end:
- 8th consecutive series victory for India – The third team after West Indies and Australia to reach this feat. The Carribean team won 15 consecutive bilateral ODI series between 1980 and 1988 while the Aussies did it between 2009 and 2010.
- 1033 runs – Shikhar Dhawan scored over a millennium runs against Sri Lanka in 2017 across all the formats. He is second to Virat Kohli (1183 runs) to score more than 1000 runs against the Lankans in a calendar year.
