India’s newly appointed One Day International skipper Virat Kohli, who led team India to its first series win in 2017 against England, was the focus of a discussion between three Pakistani greats, Wasim Akram, Saqlain Mushtaq and Shoaib Akhtar, during a television programme there.
The trio, known for taking Pakistan cricket to new heights, minced no words in praising Kohli and his strategies.
The trio hailed Kohli for his match savings 122 runs knock in the first ODI in Pune that helped India clinch the nail-biting match. During this course, the Indian captain reached his century, his 27th ton in ODI cricket.
Apart from his aggressive approach, former Pakistani cricketers also appreciated the 17 centuries the Indian captain has scored while chasing big totals.
Saqlain, who was a part of the English contingent as a spin bowling advisor, while highlighting the fitness regime Kohli follows, said that for him the right-hand batsman ‘ most energetic person’, in the gym and on the ground.
Virat Kohli has lifted two trophies in two months after leading Men in Blue to series wins against visiting England in both Tests and ODIs.
