Yusuf Pathan was not selected to represent Baroda on BCCI’s directive after he failed the dope test. The burly Pathan was allowed to play just a solitary game in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy. The all-rounder was tested positive for a banned substance Terbutaline during the tournament last year. The 35-year-old Baroda player has represented India as well. He has played 57 One Day Internationals and scored 810 runs with the highest score of 123*. But what made him a special player was the fact that he had a strike rate of 113.60. He also picked up 33 wickets.
Pathan’s rebut BCCI statement:
“I had received a letter from the BCCI on 27.10.2017, stating that I had failed a doping test for the substance ‘terbuteline’. The prohibited substance was detected in my sample because of a medicine I was taking for a throat infection. Competing for India and my home state Baroda has been a matter of immense pride and encouragement for me and I would never act in any manner to bring my motherland or Baroda, in any kind of disrepute. I would like to once again assure to the BCCI, Baroda Cricket Association and my fans and I promise to be more careful with what I consume henceforth.”
Pathan becomes the second Indian cricketer to be tested positive after Delhi bowler Pradeep Sangwan was handed an 18-month ban after he was tested positive for banned substances during IPL 2012.
Here we list 10 players who failed the doping test in the past:

The former Australian leg-spinner, who is regarded as one of the best to have played the game, was sent home a day before the start of the 2003 cricket World Cup. Warne was banned for a year after he tested positive for banned substance diuretic during an ODI series in Australia.
