Handing over the charge to Virat Kohli along with putting Yuvraj Singh back in the club, the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s National selection committee has figured out a 15 member Indian squad for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against England, starting from January 15.
The Indian cricket fans went through a state of shock after MS Dhoni left captaincy in the limited over games on January 4 but today they got a chance to rejoice as the Punjabi hard hitter Yuvraj Singh is back in the squad. Apart from Yuvi, Shikhar Dhawan made an entry in the team after recovering from injuries and Jadhav also books a seat in the dressing room.
In the T20 squad, pacer Ashish Nehra has made a comeback as he was ruled out after he suffered injuries post World T20 2016. Good news also comes for Suresh Raina who would be seen on the field in the blue jersey after quite a long time. He couldn’t play in the last series against New Zealand in 2016 as he was suffering from viral fever.
A few young faces have also been introduced in the star-studded T20 squad. The young trio of Yuzvendra Chahal, Mandeep Singh, and Rishab Pant gets a chance to show their skills off against the English opponents in the quickest form of the game. It would be a great chance for Rishab Pant to make a debut under Kohli’s leadership.
Earlier on January 4, it was announced that the selection panel under the leadership of chief selector MSK Prasad will gather on January 6 in Mumbai to select the team for the upcoming series against England which is comprised of three ODIs and three T20Is.
