Cricketer Umesh Yadav appointed assistant manager in RBI: Reports

Sourav Ganguly in the past was an employee of the Tata Steel. Apart from that, even Jogindrer Sharma and Harbhajan Singh have got jobs

Umesh Yadav has emerged as the spearhead of the Indian pace battery in ways. He has gone from strength to strength to cement his place in the Indian cricket team. Even in the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy, Umesh was Virat Kohli’s go-to man whenever he was looking for wickets. Umesh Yadav also played an integral part in Kolkata Knight Riders’ good run at the IPL. Umesh has been appointed an Assistant Manager at city branch. Ironically, the pacer had applied for the post of a police constable ten years ago, only to miss it by a whisker. Exactly a decade later, he has got a central government job and that too with a better portfolio.

Appointed as the assistant branch manager with RBI, Umesh Yadav completed all his paper work regarding this on Monday.

“The talks were on before the Champions Trophy. He had met RBI officials before leaving for England in May. The officials gave a go ahead to his appointment in sports quota but due to national duties he couldn’t complete formalities,” a source close to the development told TOI.

“He should have got a permanent job straight away but things didn’t work out. He always wanted to represent reputed organization. That was the reason he didn’t make any hurry. Now, he has got what he deserved.

“He couldn’t have asked for a better organization than RBI. Though he is financially secured – as most of the current generation cricketers are, thanks to IPL – it’s always good to have a permanent job,” the source added.
He is not the first and will mot be the last cricketer to get a job while playing the game.
