Very rarely do we come across goalkeepers who have scored a goal! But what we witnessed on January 20 was nothing short of a miracle. In the Spanish Segunda Division match, Sporting Gijon visited Estadio Anxo Carro to lock-horns against Lugo. In the 79th minute of the match, Carlos caught opponent goalie Diego Marino loitering outside his line and what followed will remain one of the best goals in the history of football.

Earlier, it was Iriome Gonzales who opened Lugo’s score in the 10th minute, which was doubled in the 66th minute by Jaime Romero. Sporting was outplayed, but a consolation came their way in form of a penalty in the 57th minute. Carlos Bonet converted the spot kick, but Gijon was nowhere near to make a comeback.

With that goal, they closed the match 3-1. It was a big win for the Spanish club.
