We know it’s wrong to objectify human beings but someone please explain that to these Tweeps.

I heard the internet was suddenly #teamiran because of these guys – can you blame anyone? Sports can be a way to bridge political gaps – especially when these are the athletes representing us. Iran’s national football team #TeamMelli __ has landed for the #WorldCup2018 pic.twitter.com/zqjQ0xNfe8

FIFA World Cup 2018 is all set to kickoff in Russia when the hosts take on Saudi Arabia in the inaugural encounter at the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow on June 14. Though Germany, Argentina, England, Portugal, Brazil and Spain are the favourites to lift the trophy this year, one team among 32 participants is winning the internet already even before their WC campaign begins.

Players like Sardar Azmoun, Morteza Pouraliganji, Alireza Jahanbahksh, Saeed Ezatollahi, Ramin Rezaian, Karim Ansarifard, and Mehdi Taremi, were snapped before leaving for Russia.

While supporting Iran’s dapper #WorldCup national football squad let’s not forget that women in Iran are still banned from stadiums & can’t cheer their national team. Tell #Iran & #FIFA that women watching sports is not a crime! SIGN Petition: https://t.co/e6FdXY6VYu #NoBan4Women pic.twitter.com/DPyJ5ldi2N

Among the Asian teams, Iran is one of the most successful as they have won Asian Cup championships thrice (1968, 1972, and 1976). Before 2018, Iran qualified for the World Cup four other time times — 1978, 1998, 2006 and 2014 — but they have never advanced past the group stage.

Other than the hosts, 31 teams from all over the world have arrived in Russia for the 32-day long tournament which will conclude on July 15. With the presence of stars players like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr among others, the tournament is undoubtedly going to be excited.
