Has Mohamed Salah Become A Contender For FIFA Puskas Award 2019 Already?

Did they give him the Puskas Award in advance for this goal?

Mohamed Salah won the Puskas Award 2018 (goal of the year) but football fans across the globe termed it as ‘best joke of 2018’. They were not convinced that Salah dribbling past a few Everton defenders qualifies for the award over Cristiano Ronaldo’s overhead kick and other award-worthy goals from Gareth Bale, Lionel Messi etc.

However, the Egyptian has an answer to everyone who doubted his skills to score outrageous goals. In a game between Egypt and Swaziland, the 26-year-old managed to beat everyone by scoring a goal directly from corner. The goalkeeper was late to react as other players just watched the ball go past him.

The goal made Twitterati go crazy as they hailed the Liverpool star:

The goal would have boosted the Liverpool star’s confidence as it ended a 4-match drought of goals. It helped Egypt register a comprehensive win over Swaziland by 4-1.

The marvelous goal was both good and bad news for Liverpool. The good part was that Salah is back to scoring ways and the bad part was that he strained his muscle soon after. He limped off the field in the 88th minute. He was treated on the sidelines and then sent back but had to retain after sustaining the injury. He has returned to Liverpool for treatment in England.
