The energetic Premier League encounter between Manchester City and Chelsea was absolutely shadowed by the mass brawl. The chaotic fight that unfortunately took place in the 90th minute at the Etihad stadium was completely uncalled for. Sergio Aguero’s horror tackle on David Luiz sparked the controversy which was then shortly followed by Fernandinho grabbing the neck of Cesc Fabregas and pushing and shoving him over an advertising board.
Tempers started boiling as teammates of both the outfits then pushed and shoved each other on the field. The referees and the club staffs had to intervene as they tried to get a grip on the mayhem and calm down the situation amidst the violent and unsportsmanlike conduct. The incident wrecked havoc on the ground and it is a shame that the fans had to experience it even though the clash was supposedly the match of the season.

Referee Anthony Taylor showed a red card to Aguero and Fernandinho for their moment of madness and rightly so. But Chelsea players also took advantage of the fight as they looked to ignite the brawl rather than trying to sort it out. A game of this nature should not have seen headlines being made out of fights, it needed to be a statement to their title rivals, the match which did not lack any football charisma fell short of the discipline required at this level.
Premier League: Manchester City 1 Chelsea 3
Antonio Conte’s Blues ousted Pep Guardiola’s Citizens 3-1. Manchester City looked comfortable in the first-half as they tested Chelsea defense time and again. An unlucky Gary Cahill own goal gave City the lead right before half-time in the 45th minute. But league leaders Chelsea dominated the second-half like anything. Diego Costa, Willian, and Eden Hazard scored in the 60th, 70th and the 90th minute respectively to stretch their magical run to eight consecutive wins in as many Premier League fixtures. Since losing 2-1 to Liverpool and 3-0 to Arsenal, Chelsea has managed to remain unbeaten in 8 games scoring 22 goals while conceding only 2. If they continue their form this campaign, there is no team in England who can stand in their way to an emphatic Premier League title.
