Argentina captain Lionel Messi was back doing what he does best in the 3-0 drubbing of Colombia in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier. Inside the first 10 minutes, Leo scored a brilliant free-kick goal from approximately 25 yards out that hit the woodwork before going in. The goal ignited the Buenos Aires crowd at the iconic El Monumental stadium to repeatedly chant ‘MESSI, MESSI’ and sings songs in Leo’s praise.

In addition to the goal, Messi also provided assists to teammates Lucas Pratto and Angel Di Maria in the 23rd and 84th minute respectively. Ecuadorian referee Roddy Zambrano showed 8 yellow cards in the entire match as he tried to discipline the players to mark his authority. La Albiceleste thus managed to get their 2018 World Cup qualification campaign back on track by seeing off Los Cafeteros’ challenge. Leo once again proved his credentials and showed exactly as to why he still remains indispensable to the Latin American football giants aka Los Gauchos. Argentina is currently 5th in the CONMEBOL qualifiers with 19 points from 12 matches while archrival Brazil presently leads the table with 27 points from 12 games.

But the goal against Colombia was just one goal of the many free-kicks that the Argentine football and Barcelona legend has entertained us with in all these years. He is able to produce magic when he has the ball at his feet. On his day he is more than capable of scoring goals at will and then winning on his own. He is simply that good. Sometimes it is simply unimaginable as to how he is able to show such skills with a football and display his talent with ease.

Lionel Messi plays as a left-footed winger but he can also operate as a striker or a forward. The 29-year-old Argentina skipper relies on his agility, dribbling and ball control skills. He is famous for his chip goals and his dangerously accurate free-kicks. His goal scoring prowess is also top-notch which has helped him become one of the best in the football fraternity.
