In order to mould the future of 21 underprivileged girls, former Indian Hockey player Ajit Pal Nandal has adopted taken a major step. In an event organised in Rohtak, Nandal has adopted all the 21 girls who are from VI to XII of a government school in his native Bohar village in the Rohtak district.
The former hockey player stated that he would be taking care of their education, provide them training and also support their expenses to buy sports equipment. He will also provide the fees, required if any, to participate in the sports tournament. He will continue bearing all these expenses until all the girls pass out their Class 12th exams from the government school. All the 21 girls from Classes VI to XII who going to be adopted have been identified by the school.
Nandal runs a modern gymnasium in Rohtak and charges no fee for the girls who want to have sports training or other facilities. He also said that he even had a conversation with the family of Rio Olympic 2016 Bronze medalist, Sakhi Malik, to adopt the needy ones to promote sports in the state.
Speaking about his source of inspiration, Nandal stated that he was inspired by Indian cricket Gautam Gambhir who recently announced that he will be bearing the entire expenses of the children of the CRPF personnel martyred in Sukma attack in April 2016.
Meanwhile, Rohtak Police SP Pankaj Nain, who was also present at the event, backed Nadal’s initiative. He stated that girls are 10 times more capable of proving themselves, however, a mentor is needed to spot the talent within them and guide them towards the right direction.
