India’s left-handed batsman Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the skipper of the Delhi Daredevils (DD) for the Indian Premier League season 11. Gambhir, who was bought by DD at his base price of Rs 2 crore after Kolkata Knight Riders sent him in the players’ auction poll, said that he is confident of lifting the trophy this time for his home team.
Delhi boy Gambhir also stated that they are banking on the experience in the squad during this IPL season.
After being appointed as the skipper by the Delhi franchise, Gambhir had a media interaction where he said,
“The kind of squad we have, if we play to our potential and ability, it will be difficult for anybody to beat us. It’s all about playing to our potential and we can do it this year as well.”
On the other hand, Gambhir is also counting on Ricky Ponting who will be playing the role of head coach for this season. He said that Ponting’s experience will be encashed in building a perfect team which can earn Delhi several achievements.
Delhi will kick-start their campaign against Kings XI Punjab at their home ground in Feroz Shah Stadium in New Delhi on April 8.
