After months of speculation, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has announced his decision to join Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) ahead of 2019 general elections. After denying rumours on multiple occasions, Gambhir joined the BJP today in presence of Union Ministers Arun Jaitely and Ravi Shankar Prasad.
He revealed that his entry into politics was influenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and thanked BJP for the opportunity to do something special for the country.

BJP is slowly building a cricket team. They always had good spinners. Recently they got a bunch of night-watchmen. And now #GautamGambhir has joined as opener.
